Walking in a mall location appeals to Seniors because of its safety, climate controlled environment, even terrain, and social nature. This map of the Phoenix area shows that there are a large number of Seniors living in the Paradise Valley section of the city; while the CHNA report below it reveals that Phoenix’s Maricopa County has lower than average access to recreation and fitness facilities.
Health organizations in Phoenix can use this data to gain support for a robust Paradise Valley Mall walking program that will improve recreational opportunities and the health of local Seniors.
Every Body Walk! is a campaign aimed at getting Americans up and moving. It is powered by Kaiser Permanente and works in collaboration with partners around the nation. America Walks serves as the backbone organization for the Every Body Walk! collaborative.
